Dr. Anthony Salandy is Founder and President of the Human Development Group, LLC, a consulting firm providing strategic consulting and technical assistance in the areas of global health, child welfare, and education.
Dr Salandy is a dynamic leader with more than a decade of child welfare, education and global health experience and success. He served as Senior Associate at Casey Strategic Consulting Group (CSCG) of the Annie E. Casey Foundation in Baltimore, Maryland leading and managing a $1.6 million youth service reform project.
He brought his style creative and forward thinking to the HIV/AIDS field as well. As a senior researcher at the University of Delaware’s Center on Drug and Alcohol Studies (CDAS), he developed a novel gender and ethnic sensitive HIV/Hepatitis C prevention intervention using various eLearning Solutions.
He has international experience conducting significant amounts of work on education, child welfare, and HIV/AIDS policy and practice reform in Sub-Sahara Africa and the Caribbean. Most recently, as a CDC consultant, Dr. Salandy conducted a needs assessment for substance abuse testing, diagnoses, treatment, care, and training as part of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) program in Kenya. In addition, he led an Initiative to foster collaboration between U.S. and Caribbean based substance abuse and HIV/AIDS researchers to investigate the link between drug abuse and HIV infection rates in the region for the National Institutes on Drug Abuse.
Dr. Salandy also has spent significant time working on Capitol Hill in the Office of Representative Charles Rangel honing his policy skills. In Mr. Rangel’s Office, he was tasked with providing guidance on the reauthorization of Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) legislation, education, and the advancement of HIV/AIDS domestic and international policy.
In addition, he has a wealth of experience in providing admission counseling and matriculation services to college bound students and their families as well as college students seeking admission into graduate or professional school. He has acquired thousands of dollars in scholarship and fellowship assistance for his clients.
Since 2001, he has served as an affiliate faculty member at Auburn University. He is the Founder and Director of the Southern Education Board Doctoral Scholars Alumni Association (SREB-DSA). He has mentored numerous undergraduates and graduate students. Dr Salandy has Ph.D. and M.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from Auburn University and a B.S. in Biology from Rust College. He has served in a leadership capacity for many civic and professional associations.
