Examples of our work

The Center on Disease Control and Prevention Global AIDS Program, Kenya — A rapid assessment was conducted on the CDC GAP HIV prevention program portfolio. The assessment was focused on evaluating the degree to which substance abuse prevention programs can be incorporated into HIV prevention protocols. Consultants worked with local programs to identify gaps in services. Results from the assessment was included in the COP.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse—Center on AIDS and Other Medical Consequences on Drug Abuse, NIH — We assisted in the enhancement of research capacity, among Caribbean regional scientific organizations, to investigate the link between drug abuse and HIV/AIDS. We worked with regional organizations to conduct workshops, seminars, and meetings. We fostered collaboration between US and Caribbean HIV and drug abuse investigators. Our work resulted in several successful NIH research grant proposals.

The Caribbean Coalition of National AIDS Programme Coordinators — We are enhancing CNAPC’s communication system by developing strategies that increase the flow of information among its members. By conducting membership surveys, and training members on use of social networking IT software (e.g., blogging, discussion threads), and assisting in capacity development, we aim to enhance the efficiency of National AIDS Programmes.

The Southern Regional Education Board, Atlanta Georgia — We worked with the SREB Doctoral Scholars Association to develop a national network of ethnic minority faculty. The goal of the initiative is to increase minority access to higher education as well as significantly improve ethnic minority recruitment and retention rates.
